Each link in this unique chain is created and donated by individual artists, with no limit put on their vision other than the size (no more than 3” in diameter) and that it should reflect the artist’s personal style.
The result is a showcase of mastery, with techniques including fabrication, casting, lapidary, cold forging, enamelling, chasing & repousse, metal clay, carving & mokume gane. Many different metals from gold to iron are represented. Some artists have added gemstone, enamel, shells, pearls, resin and other materials to the links.
According to A Hundred for One Founder Peter D'Enbeau, “The response (and generosity) has been overwhelming. People have used every type of metal & technique seen in metalsmithing. But ultimately it’s not about the materials used. It’s about what it represents: helping fellow artists in a time of need.”
All proceeds resulting from the exhibitions, books, posters, and related products will be donated to the Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF+).
